What is Molexit?

Molexit is the original time-released mole repellent.
Molexit is a dry, granular, premixed mole repellent that can be easily and safely applied to rid your lawn of moles.  Guaranteed.

Ingredients

WHAT IS IN MOLEXIT?

Molexit is made of two safe and simple ingredients; Castor oil and Fullers Earth.
The castor oil is the active repellent, producing the smell that, to some humans goes unnoticed, but to moles is extremely offensive.  Fullers Earth is the inert carrier, that when combined with our original process, creates a dry-to-the-touch product that repels moles for up to 6 weeks.

HOW DOES MOLEXIT WORK?

Molexit is an irritant to moles.  It does not harm or kills moles, but simply repels them with the smell of castor oil.
Molexit was developed to work from the surface of your lawn without any searching for active mole runs, digging, or watering.  The Eastern (Common) mole is very sensitive to the smell of the castor oil, when you apply Molexit to the surface of your lawn, the moles will move to get out from under the smell.

WHAT IS CASTOR OIL?

Castor Oil comes from the Ricinus Communis or Castor Bean Plant. The beans contain 40%-60% oil.

IS CASTOR OIL toxic?

Simply put, no.
The castor bean (or seed) contains a toxic protein called ricin.  In its natural state, the castor bean is toxic, but during the process of pressing the oil from the bean, this protein is changed and loses the qualities that make it toxic.  Castor oil is found in many processed foods, such as chocolates, as a mold inhibitor.  The castor oil found in foods and in Molexit have no toxic qualities at all.

Safety

WILL MOLEXIT HURT MY Children or PETS?

Molexit is 100% natural and 100% safe to use around pets and children.  Molexit should always be used as directed.  Breathing masks, gloves, and eye protection are always recommended when using any lawn product or broadcast spreader.  There is also no need to worry about kids or pets dragging messy castor oil into your house on their shoes and paws because the dry formula of Molexit keeps the mess at the factory and not in your home.

IS MOLEXIT SAFE FOR MY GARDEN AND FLOWER BEDS?

Yes, Molexit is safe to use in both flower and edible vegetable gardens.

Application of Molexit in both flower and vegetable gardens is not only safe but it is also recommended.  When applying Molexit, it is best to apply the product everywhere you do not want moles, regardless of whether or not the area currently showing signs of moles.
When Molexit is applied to only one part of the lawn, or to the whole lawn except gardens, the moles can move to the untreated area and cause more damage without them actually leaving your property.

SHOULD I WEAR GLOVES OR A MASK WHILE SPREADING MOLEXIT?

Breathing masks, gloves, and eye protection are always recommended when using any lawn product or broadcast spreader; safety is always best practice.

DOES MOLEXIT SMELL?

While castor oil has a smell that is very unpleasant to moles, it is hardly noticeable to most humans.  You may detect a slight oily smell, but nothing like your moles will be smelling.

WILL IT KILL MOLES?

No, Molexit is non-toxic and safe for ALL plants and animals.  Moles do not like the smell of castor oil, but it will not harm them.

Application

HOW DO I USE MOLEXIT?

Molexit is a dry and granular product.  Because of this, it can be applied in the same ways you would apply other lawn products such as grass seed.  It can safely be spread by hand or with all types and brands of broadcast spreaders.

what setting do I put my Broadcast spreader on?

Molexit has a very light application (about .6lbs per 1000 square feet), regardless of spreader brand or type, we recommend setting your broadcast spreader to the lowest setting.  Even at the lowest setting a brisk pace can still be used to get as light of an application as possible.  You might feel like you aren't getting enough product on your lawn, but our manufacturing process allows you to use a small amount of product to repel even the most stubborn mole.

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY MOLEXIT?

Moles are most active in Spring, early Summer, late Summer, and Fall.  During these months you will see the most activity and damage to your lawn.  During the dry heat of Summer and the cold of Winter, most moles will follow lawn insects deeper into soil that is easier to dig through.  There are many cases where you can still see mole activity throughout the year, and Molexit can be applied at any time and still work to repel your moles.  Whenever you see mole activity, you can apply Molexit successfully.

HOW MUCH MOLEXIT DOES IT TAKE TO WORK?

One 6.5lb box of Molexit will cover about 10,000 sq ft (about ¼ of an acre).

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE THE MOLES TO LEAVE?

Molexit is active and begins working to repel moles straight out of the box.  You will start to notice increased activity close after application as the moles begin to move away from the smell.  Most moles will completely leave you lawn within 12-24 hours after application.

DO I NEED TO WATER MY LAWN AFTER APPLYING?

No, Molexit will start repelling moles straight out of the box.  You do not need to water in Molexit to "activate" it.

Will Molexit work on my large lawn (LARGER THAN one ACRE)?

Yes, Molexit can be use successfully on lawns larger than one acre, though the application is slightly different than an application on a smaller lawn.

When Molexit is applied to lawns larger than one acre, we have seen instances where the moles get confused because no matter where they go, they can't get out from under the smell of the Molexit.  We have found that applying Molexit on larger lawns works best when it is done in stages.  On the first day, apply Molexit in a radius around your home, starting from the house and working out, doing about 1/4 to 1/3 of the lawn.  Give the moles 24-48 hours to move away from the home, then repeat the process for another 1/4 to 1/3 of your lawn being sure to over lap the previously treated area by half to be sure no gaps are left.  Repeat this process as many times as necessary to push the moles completely out of your lawn.

HOW LONG WILL ONE APPLICATION OF MOLEXIT LAST?

Molexit is active for about 4-6 weeks depending on rain fall.  During periods of heavy rain, it is best to reapply Molexit every 4 weeks to be sure there are no lapse in coverage that will allow the moles to reenter your lawn.

WILL THE MOLES COME BACK?

Moles are migratory and are always in search of food.  Because of this, we can never know exactly what they will do.  Molexit will repel the moles for 4-6 weeks while the product is active and has not begun to biodegrade from the weather.  After this there are a lot of factors that can contribute to if or when the moles will come back to your lawn.  If the moles find a better food source in your neighbors lawn, it could be months before they return to your lawn.  If the food source isn't as good as your lawn, they might be back sooner.
